True Temper Delivers a Memorable Masters

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In one of the most memorable recent Masters Tournaments, Rifle shafts engineered by True Temper delivered consistent accuracy and distance to win the 2009 Masters Tournament. The victory at Augusta National was the ninth consecutive win at The Masters for True Temper shafts.

Playing Rifle shafts in his Ping irons, The Masters champion came close to being the first player ever to post four rounds in the 60s in a single Masters. He shot a 68-68-69-71(276) and won in a dramatic playoff.

“Winning The Masters is an incredible moment every pro golfer in the world aspires to achieve,” says Scott Hennessy, president and CEO of True Temper Sports. “True Temper is proud to have played a part in this year’s victory, and we remain more dedicated than ever to providing Tour pros the most sophisticated shaft technology in the game. A Masters championship is an incredible payoff for the countless hours of hard work and all the pain-staking research and development we dedicate to the design and production of our shafts.”

In 2009 alone, True Temper’s Project X and Rifle shafts have claimed eight tournament victories, including the Mercedes-Benz Championship, Northern Trust Open, World Golf Championships (WGC) Accenture Match Play, The Honda Classic, Doral Invitational, Transitions Tampa Bay Classic, Shell Houston Open and now the Masters Tournament.

Rifle shafts are built through True Temper’s exclusive Frequency Matching process which uses electronic calibration to ensure identical shaft flex from club to club. Rifle steel shafts are available in tapered and parallel irons.
